The main reason I was visiting SO-CAL Speed Shop was the fact that I was in search of a job. I was surfing the net while working at the University Police station and came across their web site. A little window popped up and stated that they needed a mechanic/fabricator to work in the shop and help develope new porducts along with a lot of other jobs that I was capable of. So I sent off my resume and the next day they called me and wanted me to come visit. So I took some pictures with a very crappy Fugi disposeable camera supplied by my Grandmother.
This first set of pictures are of the cars currently in the Speed Shop. They have just started on a couple of them and some have been in the shop for over 8 years as the owner keeps changeing his mind as to what he really wants. 8 years of work isn't cheap at $65/hour for labor this man has accrued a 1/2 million dollar bill (first two pictures in the bottom row).

The next set of pictures is of the SO-Cal Prowler. They did some major body work to insert the custom grill and add real street rod healights. They even reworked the doors, so that their own Goose neck mirrors could be installed. I don't know if its because of the mirrors or what but the doors barely open, making removing yourself from this car even for a little kid a hard task, not to mention that there is less cab space than a mid 70's Vette. They also make the hood ornament and chrome hood strip in house. These wonderful expensive factory built street rods also ride terrible. They will shake yoru dinner out of you from three weeks ago if you ride in them long enough. I've riden in Vettes that don't bounce this much. I actually thought the body was breaking loose from the frame at times, that or that was me bounceing around in the seat that much.

The next stop on our tour is the little hot rod Ford Focus Wagon they let me drive while I was there. This is the SO-Cal Speed Shops very own wagon which has been all tricked out for a SEMA show for Ford. It has some custom headlights. Its been lowered with Eibach springs. Its sports larger wheels with SO-Cal's web address on the bead lip, along with the fake looking centerlock lug nut covers. Then to top it all off it has the 5" Autometer Monster Tach with extra large Yellow shift light to let you know when your going to blow up the competely stock 2.0L Z-Tec 4 cylineder. The redline was set at 5000 rpms but I know for a fact that while mergeing into that wonderful California traffic that I forgot to shift out of first while trying to get enough speed to get infront of a truck that the tach was reading 7000 rpm before I realized what was going on. That and I think I blew right through a metered on ramp. Metered on ramps for those that don't know are the on ramps with stop lights at the end and only allow one or two people to enter the highway every few seconds. Good thing there wasn't a CHiP around at the time.

On my second day and last day (short trip) they let me loose in the fine city of Pomona with the Focus to go anywhere I wanted. Not having enough time to drive to the beach I opted for the NHRA Museum. So below are some pretty bad photos of the museum, the camera was on the way out on the last few shots. The only good picture is the first picture I took before entering the museum of a Quad 426 Hemi engined land speed record car. Inside I saw several slingshot dragsters, Kenny Bernstien's 300 mph speed barrier breaking Top Fuel Dragster, and Tommy Tivos twin enigne sling shot dragster with his quad engine all wheel drive dragster behind it.

The last stop on this little 2 day tour actually takes you back to the begining of the second day as I was leaving the hotel. This last picture is a picture of the mountain scape behind the hotel. What can't see any mountains? Look behing the morning smog and maybe you can see the start of a mountain.
